The Missouri Botanical Garden’s new visitor center was recently recognized for its outstanding design and construction! This achievement was made possible in part by the skill and dedication of our union contractors, whose craftsmanship helped bring this remarkable building to life!

“This project was a remarkable transformation from 2020 to 2023, made possible by the unwavering dedication of the entire team—from the owner to the subcontractors. A defining element of the design was the extensive use of glass and glazing, which not only welcomed patrons into the space but also provided breathtaking views of the surrounding 80-acre garden. Our team’s expertise was vital in implementing features like a full glass curtain wall and a striking lantern that stretches 50 feet above the main entry, creating a welcoming and expansive gateway.
Jim Haferkamp, Vice President, IWR North America
One of the project’s unique challenges involved the motorized ventilation windows at the top of the lantern space, which required precise coordination and ingenuity due to the lack of landing platforms or floor access. This coordination was expertly navigated by IWR and Glaziers Union 513, showcasing our ability to handle even the most complex installations.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this project for your hard work and dedication! IWR and Glaziers Union 513 are proud to have been part of this project, and we congratulate the entire team on winning the Buildy Award!”
